JOB
Under supervision, to perform a variety of maintenance tasks, and do related work as required. An employee in this class is responsible for performing light and heavy manual labor duties. This may include the operation of less complex vehicles and power equipment, as well as various hand tools.This is a temporary position, duration of employment will be based on city need.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way of acquiring these abilities and knowledge would be one year of experience in construction work, parks, grounds, and pool maintenance, or other related experience for the type of work outlined.Licenses/Certificates: Possession of a valid California driver’s license.Duties: Under general supervision, works as a team member of a maintenance crew, performing a variety of unskilled and semi skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and servicing of the City’s public works. Personnel may be assigned to the following divisions: General Assignments: General building maintenance and custodial duties including sweeping and mopping floors and emptying trash.Delivery and set up of furniture and equipment for special events.Assisting in the maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines and services.Maintenance and repair or water meters.Minor construction work including digging trenches, laying pipe, installing sprinkler systems, and pouring concrete.Manual labor including disposing of rubbish, cleaning streets and culverts, and removing weeds.Other duties as assigned.Park Division: Grounds keeping duties such as mowing and edging lawns and trimming shrubs.Working with and maintaining garden tools and power equipment.Application of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. Raking, gathering, loading, and hauling leaves and refuse.Maintenance, installation and repair of irrigation systems, timers, and valves.Cleaning and maintaining public rest room facilities.Other duties as assigned.
