Reporting to the Operations Manager, we are seeking a part-time (25 hours/week), Floor Monitor to be located in our brand new, state-of-the-art facility on the west side of Bridgeport. The Floor Monitor is responsible for supervising the Dining Hall floor and assures compliance with program rules and expectations. Responsibilities include supervising the guests during the breakfast and lunch hours. The Floor Monitor is the key to a team approach in working with the Case Managers to facilitate the needs of our guests.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Provide a positive, supportive and respective presence within Thomas Merton Family Center.
• Follow all check-in and check-out procedures.
• Ensure proper procedures for the health and sanitary process of serving meals
• Perform proactive de-escalation and accommodation strategies with guests; appropriately handle individual and group crisis and conflicts.
• Effectively communicate with guests so that they understand rules, rights and responsibilities upon entry to the Dining Hall.
• Ability to make “in-the-moment” leadership decisions (consistent with training) regarding needs of the guests.
• Direct guests to Case Managers for appropriate referrals to other services.
• Maintain appropriate boundaries when working with guests and staff.
• Assure safety of all guests.
• Responding to any crisis situation.
• Prepare incident reports and maintain a log of any guest suspensions.
• Knowledge of safety and de-escalation procedures.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
• Experience in Social, Human or Homeless services is preferred.
• Experienced in de-escalation techniques

Skills and Abilities:

• Highly dependable with the ability to arrive to work promptly each day.
• Strong leadership and communication skills are essential
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Strong listener and creative problem solver.
• Patience in working with challenging situations and people.
