Summary:

Supervise pregnant and parenting mothers ages 18 years old and their children ages 0-3 years old within the Guadalupe Home Program and set appropriate trauma informed behavioral limits within a safe and caring environment. The Resident Direct Care Specialist is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out responsibilities assigned as long as such actions do not deviate from established organizational policies and are consistent with program guidelines and sound professional judgment.

Position Responsibilities:

• *Properly bill TPCN and/or other agency utilized systems provided to residents
• *Gain a working knowledge of staff policies and guidelines.
• *Maintain positive culturally competent relationships with residents and staff.
• *Utilize training in trauma informed consequences when redirecting resident behavior.
• *Mediate conflicts between residents to promote healthy communication.
• Teach constructive behavior and social skills.
• Teach basic parenting skills.
• Teach realistic problem-solving behaviors and life skills.
• Teach good personal hygiene skills.
• Reinforce positive behavior by providing healthy, positive incentives for residents and children.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

• Prefer experience working with families and children, support services, and/or shelters;
• Preferred but not required to have a clean driving record and proof of insurance to drive agency vehicle or to transport residents in agency vehicles to events as needed.

License and Credentials

• Reliable transportation
• Valid driver license
• Valid vehicle insurance
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience with computer software and general office machines (i.e., Microsoft Office software preferred);
• Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
• Must have good written and verbal skills;
• Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
