JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Lifeguard
STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The lifeguard is responsible for the safety of all swimmers and for the enforcement of all pool rules and regulations.
SUPERVISION: Lifeguards receive direction from Education Supervisors and Residential Supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a current Lifeguard Certification and must be 21 years of age or older.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Prevent accidents by enforcing polices, rules and regulations and ordinances governing the conduct of persons using the swimming pool.
Perform a safe rescue for a swimmer in trouble and administer the necessary First Aid.
Maintain the pool deck and keep gutters clean.
Maintain order in the pool and foresee possible trouble and take steps in preventing it.
Report potential physical hazards and unsafe conditions to the Facilities Director.
Test the water at the beginning of each shift and record on the proper form.
Open and close the pool at the scheduled times. At the end of each shift, clear the pool of swimmers and pick up around the deck area.
Put buoys, kickboards, and inner tubes in their proper places and throw trash away.
Lock all the doors and gates.
