Brookdale ShopRite is a member of Wakefern Food Corp. the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the U.S. The owner members of Wakefern collectively own over 280 ShopRite stores, of which Brookdale/Newark ShopRite operates two. Our stores are located in Essex county, New Jersey. We employ over 850 associates.

Brookdale ShopRite is seeking an Asset Protection Specialist.

Asset Protection plays an integral role in our business, and has the following roles and responsibilities in our company.

-Assisting the Asset Protection Director and Asset Protection site supervisor with onsite management of the armed security company.

-Operating of our company video security systems.

-Reviewing various categories in smartstore, to uncover potential theft or company violations.

-Performing LaneHawk review and subsequent investigations.

-Responding to and locating potential theft situations including customer shoplifting, and employee theft/dishonesty.

-Investigating Asset Protection leads, which could lead to a potential theft investigation.

-Reviewing of register shortages/overages. Investigating subsequent issues after ascertaining the dollar amount, cashier information, cashier issues(shortage frequency, work issues) secure detail journal, and review subsequent videos..

-Securing all evidence pertaining to any criminal incident which occurs. Including, but not limited to, signing all complaints regarding criminal charges for shoplifting, or employee thefts.

-Conducting employee theft interviews, with subsequent securing of written statement and restitution.

-Ensuring all camera equipment is operating correctly. When issues present themselves, place calls for service, and update the Asset Protection site supervisor and Asset Protection Director.

-Performing vendor spot checks and receiver reviews.

-Performing monthly reviews with evening cash room associates with regard to hold up/armed robbery procedures.

-Assisting with daily meetings with store management, to update on any relevant Asset Protection issues.

-Performing employee work reviews via camera system, to ensure work performance of the investigated associate is meeting our standards.

-Responding to customer and employee injury and accident calls. Investigating the scene, taking all relevant information regarding the alleged incident. Recording and securing video, taking photos of the area, securing witness statements. Preparing and presenting information for the report to be written by the Asset Protection site supervisor.

-Becoming familiar with OSHA(Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and the violations which pertain to the supermarket industry.

-Conducting daily safety walks to ensure we are OSHA and state regulatory compliant with regard to safety.

-Gaining a basic understanding of Handling QA(Quality Assurance) complaints. Learn the reporting method, after conclusion of the investigation, to consumer affairs at Wakefern.

Desired Qualifications:

1. Must have excellent oral and written skills for dealing with employees, customers and vendors.

2. Must have above average analytical skills to study and interpret situations and information.

3. Must possess computer skills showing ability to understand security and surveillance technology.

4. Must have the ability to either sit or stand for long periods of time.

5. Must be able to work weekends, evenings and overnights if needed.
