Responsibility:

Blakemore Construction is now looking to hire an experienced Asphalt Finish Roller Operator for a commercial heavy duty asphalt paving company. Competitive hourly rate based on experience. Immediate start following interview of all applicants. The ability to operate various pieces of equipment is a plus.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions

• Safely operate asphalt finish roller machine
• Full range of body motion including handling and operating levers or controls, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
• Use of foot-controlled pedals
• Ensure no one is in swing path or behind moving equipment
• Know limitations of equipment assigned and how to operate each piece in a safe and efficient manner
• Sitting for extensive periods of time
• Ability to handle the bouncing and jarring of the equipment
• Must be able to mount and dismount off vehicles and/or equipment
• Coordinate backing of truck and dumping asphalt into paver
• Shovel, rake and spread asphalt as assigned
• Assist in placement, displacement, and moving various traffic control devices
• Set up and tear down equipment
• Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required

Training and Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Asphalt Finish Roller Operator
• Must successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) drug screen
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
• Willing to work Monday through Saturday, nights as needed
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Must have a strong safety record
• Spanish speaking a plus

Physical Requirements

• Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and climb all day
• Able to lift and carry loads within limits set by OSHA regulations
• Requires the following specific types of vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Able to work with moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic/caustic chemicals
• Able to work in high, precarious places as well as in extreme heat and extreme cold
• Able to work in moderate to loud work environment

Work Environment

• Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
• Noise level is generally loud
