JOB SUMMARY OR PURPOSE: To transport and deliver freight by driving diesel powered tractor trailer combination, long and short distances.

Atlantic Corporation drivers are always required to safely operate Atlantic equipment while obeying all applicable laws. This includes holding and maintaining the proper license (and medical card) for the equipment that the driver is tasked to operate. Depending on the specific equipment and driving area some drivers also need to maintain driver logbooks. In addition to license and legal requirements an Atlantic driver also has the following physical requirements.

• Must be able to sit,stand,and walk and remain alert while driving for an aggregate period of up to 11 hours.

• Able to lift to 50 lbs., be able to bend, squat, climb stairs, and reach

• Must have the ability to read, write, communicate in English and perform simple mathematical calculations with mental ability to handle receipts, read maps, road signs, maintain logs, etc.

• Able to use warehouse equipment, (forklift, pallet jack, hand trucks).

• Check all freight on trailer and ensure that the customer signs off on accuracy of freight, including accuracy on all shipping paperwork

• Perform Pre & Post trip inspection on truck, trailer, and all equipment for defects and safe operating condition

• Report all accidents, breakdowns, inclement weather or traffic conditions involving driver or company equipment immediately.

• Maintain all e-logs, fuel receipts, mileage records for compliance regulations.

• Secure all shipments by tying down or bracing cargo within trailer, as required. Timely deliveries from origin to destination.

• Proper loading and unloading of freight to assure safety and minimal risk of damage to cargo and danger to people.

• Must be able to hook/unhook various commercial combinations, manually lower and raise landing gear, operate fifth wheel release lever, lock and release pintle-hooks, attach and release safety chains, open and close cargo doors, climb into and out of vehicles, fuel vehicles.

• Professional representation of Atlantic Corporation and the trucking industry through responsible driving, and all other actions. Must NOT disclose or share any confidential information concerning the property, business, or affairs of Atlantic Corporation, or customers of the Company.
