Solar Mechanical Crew Trainee is a member of a small mechanical team responsible for solar racking installation. The crew trainee works under the crew lead to interpret design drawings and safety plans to safely install mounting systemsto the roof or other structures such as a ground mounts, pole mounts, carports and awnings. The mechanical trainee must have a strong mechanical background, preferably in roofing and building construction, and be willing to take direction and mentoring from the crew lead.

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Effectively install safety equipment and follow site-specific safety plans
• Install mounting systems, rails, brackets and supports for panels as per manufacturer and code requirements for flat roofs, pitched roofs and ground installations.
• Secure mounting systems using fasteners to attach to the roof structural members.
• Store equipment properly, such as tools, ladders, and safety equipment.
• Remove packing material, clean/sweep/vacuum debris from installation activities.
• Restore the site by filling excavations, compacting earth, installing top soil and sod, etc.
• Load and secure equipment onto trucks for transport

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

Ability to follow directions and support the team

• Mechanical background necessary, with previous experience working with various building and roofing materials (composite, tile, metal, TPO) preferred
• Familiarity with waterproofing and weather sealing methods
• Familiarity with ground work and excavation
• Ability to work in extreme environments, year-round
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Basic technology skills, primarily with smartphone
• Customer service and communication skills
• Must maintain a current driver’s license with a clean driving record
• OSHA 10 Certification required within 1 month of starting

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
