Amalga Job Description

Position: Machine Operator - 1st Shift

Starting Salary: $18.00 with raises after 3 and 6 months.

Duties:

• Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools to perform progressive machine operations on a variety of standardized work having close tolerances and finish requirements. Machine types to include standard turning and planning machines, boring and drilling machines, grinders, etc.
• Examines samples from each machine for burrs, ragged edges, or scratches and determines that dimensions are within prescribed tolerances, using variety of gauges and measuring tools.
• Master techniques for preparing and cleaning surfaces by grinding with electric, pneumatic or manual tools;
• Understanding measuring instruments and have knowledge of identifying parts and tools used in industrial maintenance.
• Grind tools.
• May set up machines for operation by others.
• Work from drawings, specifications and job layouts.
• Work is subject to process and final inspection.

Minimum Education or Certificate Requirement: High School diploma or G.E.D.

Minimum Time in Equivalent Position: Six months to a year preferred.

Required Skills: Reading, writing, basic math, ability to carry up to 50 pounds, ability to stand at machine for full shift.
