Necessary knowledge:

· Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Soil and Crop Science, or related field

· Must be able to obtain certification for Certified Crop Advisor, Certified Professional Agronomist within one year.

· NRCS TSP or ability to get NRCS TSP certified.

· 3 to 5 years of demonstrated ag experience in Western United States agriculture, with a focus on irrigated farming systems.

KEY SKILLS FOR SUCCESS:

The ideal team member possesses expertise in dry land and irrigated agriculture and sustainable farming methods, along with knowledge or experience in regenerative agriculture practices. Proficiency in data analysis using agricultural software tools and Microsoft Office is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders. A strong commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement in agricultural practices is expected.

Familiarity with regulations, permits, and best management practices related to Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs), nutrient management, and environmental protection is advantageous. Successful team members must have experience with livestock environmental systems and demonstrate honesty and integrity in all aspects of their work.

A successful team member should be client service-oriented, with a professional and confident demeanor, and possess a solid understanding of basic principles in business development, implementation, and project administration. Maintaining confidentiality of client and company information and records is paramount. Additionally, the team member should be capable of managing their team both in-person and remotely.

SALARY RANGE: $29.00 - $36.00 per hour

What this position entails:

This leadership role involves overseeing agronomy and regulatory compliance for CAFOs, including project management, quality assurance, and staff development. Responsibilities include permits, monitoring, compliance, recordkeeping, and reporting, as well as inspections and nutrient management planning for various farming and animal feeding operations. It also covers areas such as SPCC, composting, solid waste regulations, and regenerative agriculture. The position requires in-office work with local and occasional regional travel.

The role also includes assisting with environmental compliance assessments, representing clients during inspections, and providing preparatory and corrective actions. It involves developing annual reports on nutrient management practices, attending educational activities, and offering farming practice recommendations. Other duties include coordinating soil, manure, and wastewater sampling, managing teams both in-person and remotely, overseeing remote CAFO compliance teams, and preparing NPDES CAFO Discharge Permit applications and NMPs in multiple states. Additionally, it encompasses providing permitting and compliance services to solid waste and compost facilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this position, the team member may be required to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, snow, rain) for extended periods of time and stand for long periods of time. This work requires standing on uneven terrain. Employees must also be able to lift and move a minimum of 30 lbs., sit, walk, talk, hear, and reach with hands or arms. The employee is also required to kneel, crouch, and bend. The employee is in a position that frequently communicates with other employees. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Occasionally drive to city, county, and state work sites.
