Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Part-Time Estate Sale Associate to join our team. An Estate Sale Associate is a vital team member based in the Metro Detroit area, responsible for preparing and executing successful estate sales. This role involves organizing homes, cleaning, staging items for sale, setting up checkout areas, pricing items, conducting research, managing estate sale traffic, and providing great customer service. The Estate Sale Associate must have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a basic understanding of antiques and collectibles.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

  • Organize, clean, and stage homes in preparation for estate sales
  • Set up tables, checkout areas, and bring necessary supplies into homes
  • Price all items in the home in conjunction with the manager
  • Conduct extensive research on various items using a mobile device
  • Place signs and manage traffic at the estate sale
  • Provide excellent customer service during the estate sale
  • Manage the checkout system and assist customers in carrying items to their vehicles

CAPABILITIES / KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of antiques and collectibles
  • Ability to conduct thorough research
  • Physical ability to setup, stage, and manage a sale
  • Willing to learn, in a fast paced environment
  • Dependable transportation to job sites

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work on feet for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift and move items of various sizes

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a retail, sales, or customer service environment is advantageous
  • Basic knowledge of antiques and collectibles, and the ability to research their value
