A.P.A. Industries, Inc. is Hiring an Automotive Tech Support Advisor / Quality Inspector Near Simi Valley, CA

About Us
We are a well-established, rapidly-growing aftermarket automotive parts manufacturer. You will be joining a team that has earned a reputation for providing unique and cost-effective solutions for vehicle restoration and repair, serving both professional service shops and DIY enthusiasts.

Our URO Parts and Autotecnica brands consist of replacement parts that cover nearly all vehicle makes and models, both early and late model. As an experienced contract manufacturer, we are able to offer components in almost all automotive product categories, and are constantly expanding our portfolio and capabilities.

We're looking for an experienced and motivated individual to serve in multiple roles on our expanding team. As an automotive professional, you would serve as a Tech Support Advisor, which includes handling warranty and labor claims. As the primary point-of-contact for all non-sales customer inquiries, it will be your responsibility to answer product questions, investigate and troubleshoot customer issues, and arrange for prompt and appropriate resolutions. Maintaining an excellent CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) is a must. The remainder of your time will be dedicated to assisting our Engineering and Receiving departments as a Quality Inspector.

Tech Support Advisor - Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish excellent working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Serve as a responsive and effective liaison between customers (who may lack automotive knowledge) and company engineers (who may be overly technical).
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with parts and/or installation, which may involve installing and testing components on vehicles.
  • Answer technical questions about products in a clear, concise and respectful manner that customers can easily understand.
  • Review and processes valid warranty and labor claims.
  • Research problems and use personal automotive knowledge and service experience to identify and adjust (or reject) fraudulent or excessive claims.
  • Provide installation guidance for customers, which may include writing basic installation instructions or shooting quick how-to videos.
  • Provide technical direction to engineers, identify and suggest areas for product improvement.
  • Occasionally represent the company and exhibit products at car shows, trade shows, etc.

Quality Inspector - Primary Responsibilities:

  • Confirm that delivered production runs match the part number and quantity of items noted on the Purchase Order and Receiving Document (RD).
  • Pull random samples from each production run upon delivery, and verify that dimensions and materials match both the O.E. (Original Equipment) master sample and the critical characteristics detailed in the First Article Approval PAD (Product Analysis & Development) document.
  • Review engineering Quality Notes for part number, and confirm that production run complies with any requested deviations from O.E. master sample, or specific areas of concern.
  • If an issue is discovered, create a Quality Alert using Microsoft Excel, which is emailed to vendor. The Quality Alert may be a full rejection, or simply advise the vendor to make adjustments to the product prior to the next manufacturing run.
  • If a product defect can be remedied on-site, sort and remove affected items from inventory, then skillfully correct the defect using workshop equipment such as a drill press, grinder, hydraulic press, vertical mill, lathe, spray paint, etc.
  • Assist the engineering department with PCAR’s (Preventive/Corrective Action Reports), which are emailed to vendors.
  • Use automotive knowledge and experience to assist company engineers and interns in the performance of their duties.
  • Provide light mechanic support when needed to maintain warehouse operations, which may include repair of packing equipment, fork lifts, air compressor, scales, conveyor belt, rollup doors, etc.

Requirements Include:

  • High school diploma
  • Automotive parts or professional Service Technician experience (2-5 years)
  • Customer Service experience (2-5 years)
  • Pleasant/friendly demeanor, an outgoing personality, and a great attitude
  • Reliable, able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and broad scope of automotive knowledge, including parts and their functions
  • Analytical and strategic, able to make informed decisions
  • Reasonable typing skills and proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proactive with excellent time management skills; can multi-task and perform duties with little supervision
  • Attend weekly engineering department meetings
  • Some travel may be required (local and out of state)

Preferred Capabilities/Experience Include:

  • Dealership Service Advisor or aftermarket parts industry experience
  • ASE Certification
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization in a professional manner
  • Business or Engineering degree
  • Passionate about the industry and active on automotive enthusiast forums and/or social media
