Pekin Animal Hospital is growing, and we are looking for an Experienced Veterinary Assistant. Pekin Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary office serving Pekin and the surrounding area for nearly eighty years. We specialize in caring for companion animals including dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles.

Our Experienced Veterinary Assistant must exhibit sharp attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task. We are looking for a calm, level-headed individual who does well under pressure, and loves a challenge. At least 2 years of veterinary experience is required.

Responsibilities:

• Administering medications, setting up equipment and diagnostic machines, giving injections, performing tests to assess the animal’s health.
• Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures.
• Monitor the care of companion animals, dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles.
• Perform lab tests to diagnose ailments.
• Keep detailed medical records on all patients.
• Conduct routine medical procedures such as injections, drawing blood, placing catheters, and more.
• Other duties as required.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.50 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 36 per week

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
