The HEART Center is a recreational therapy non profit in Phoenix, AZ dedicated to using horses and recreation to create meaningful and purposeful education environments. Summer Camp at Camp Colley in Happy Jack, Arizona is an extension of our year round program. In partnership with the City of Phoenix, we have the opportunity to provide a summer full of week long transformational adventure camps to over 300 youth. Our program is unique in the fact that we keep our numbers per session smaller than a traditional camp in order to provide our campers with the individualized programming support they need to be successful. Camp is an overnight camp and all Camp Leaders will be with youth on site at Camp Colley Monday-Friday from June 17th-August 2nd.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a Camp Recreation Leader to join our team! The ideal candidate will have the passion and the experience facilitating recreation activities with children of diverse backgrounds, including disdvantaged youth and youth with nuerodivergent learning profiles. We are creating a fun and engaging camp experience open to youth of all ability levels and are seeking high energy and highly motivated candidates to join our amazing team.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead daily camp activities for children
- Provide guidance, support, and supervision to campers
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all camp participants
- Implement age-appropriate educational and recreational programs
- Foster a positive and inclusive camp environment
- Communicate effectively with camp staff, parents, and campers
Qualifications:
- Experience in recreation programming
- Background in outdoor recreation / wilderness camping is a plus
- Previous experience working with students in various settings such as classroom management, early childhood education, babysitting, daycare, childcare, tutoring, or sports coaching
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a POSITIVE and FUN attitude
- CPR/First Aid certification is required
- Fingerprint Clearance Card and Background Check are required
Our camp program is truly like none other in Arizona. We value connection and providing programming in smaller numbers in order to give each kid the opportunity to have purposeful programming that allows them to thrive. Our campers are more than just a number- and we need dedicated camp leaders that are invested in making each campers experience to be one of the most memorable parts of their childhood.
