POSITION SUMMARY: As an ammonia refrigeration technician, your responsibilities include the operation, inspection, and maintenance of ammonia refrigeration and freezer equipment, such as pumps, condensers, compressors evaporators, valves, purgers, and other utility system components.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Conducting routine inspections of ammonia refrigeration system (800 tons of
refrigeration).
• Identifying and troubleshooting issues with refrigeration equipment
• Repairing or replacing defective components in refrigeration systems
• Performing preventative maintenance on refrigeration systems to ensure optimal
performance.
• Troubleshoot ammonia valves and refrigeration equipment failures.
• Installing new refrigeration systems according to specifications
• Adhering to safety protocols and regulations while working with refrigerants
• Reading and interpreting blueprints and compliance schematics.
• Processing and completing work orders.
• Observing and testing newly installed systems.
• Replacing worn seals, outer shells, and worn-out motors.
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED, or higher required.
• 5 - 10 years of ammonia refrigeration technician experience.
Skills
• Ability to install new refrigeration systems in a commercial property setting.
• Perform repairs and maintenance to existing refrigeration systems.
• Upgrade systems to meet new safety standards and regulations.
• Communicate with clients about system operations.
• Read blueprints and manufacturer diagrams related to equipment.
• Understand basic plumbing and electrical concepts in relation to systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical functions.

• Reports to: Maintenance Manager
• Supervisory responsibilities: No
• Status: Non-Exempt/ Seasonal May 15 – September 15 (40-48 hours a week)

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, over-time, double[1]time and holidays throughout the duration of our pack season (May to October); this is critical to support the needs of the business and is subject to change
