Job Title: Supervisor of Staking

Location: Summerdale Description of Responsibilities:

  • To design lines which are cost-conscious and efficient from the standpoint of BCEMC, are acceptable to meet the needs of the membership, and conform to all applicable federal, state, and local requirements. To properly maintain records of lines built and upgraded so that appropriate changes can be made to the mapping system.
  • Provides resolution to an assortment of problems that are typically well defined, but some clarification or judgment is required to determine action, as additional information about the problem/task is discovered. Uses judgment within defined practices/procedures to determine appropriate action. Problem/Task resolution timeframe: Inclusive of shorter timeframes, but the majority of tasks may take up to several weeks to resolve.
  • Supervises, directs, and coordinates the surveying and the staking of lines for electrical service both underground and overhead for individuals and subdivisions, including redesigning existing lines from OH to UG or relocating overhead lines.
  • Draws work orders for new electric services, system improvements, line extensions, and structure changeouts from inspections, etc.
  • Directs contract locators, answers complaints, investigates underground digs, and determines if contractor is at fault, approves disbursements of funds, and audits work completed.
  • Prioritizes and schedules work plan jobs.
  • Prepares “Letters of Availability” to consultants and landowners to ensure power will be available. Reviews, researches, and ensures easements for plats of property prior to signing and approving.
  • Inspects attachments to comply with construction specifications and National Electrical Safety Codes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required with five years progressive experience in a related position.
  • Must possess or obtain Staking Certification offered by statewide training program and/or other training organizations.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently and effectively. Ability to determine and plan for the need of additional resources. Ability to set and meet goals and objectives of role. 
  • Proficient computer skills with software applications (Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Must possess good supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills along with public speaking skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Working Conditions:

  • Office/Field environment.
  • Occasional weekend work and some overnight and/or out-of-state travel is required.
