Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Technician at Bridgemark is essential for supporting the recovery and overall well-being of clients with substance use disorders in a residential setting. This role encompasses various responsibilities, from client intake and orientation to comprehensive documentation, office administration, and effective communication with clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to the comprehensive admission process by scheduling, conducting new client admissions, and leading orientation groups to help facilitate their adjustment to the program.
Maintain constant awareness of client whereabouts, ensuring their safety and well-being, and deescalating potential crises when needed.
Ensure accurate and prompt completion of all required paperwork, including lab requisitions, incident reports, and detailed continuity of care logs.
Facilitate effective communication across shifts during turnovers to ensure seamless care continuation, regularly communicating with clinical staff regarding client progress and concerns.
Conduct urine screens and breathalyzer screenings according to protocol, while adhering to health monitoring standards and documenting results accurately.
Handle office duties such as answering phones, transferring calls, copying, and faxing documents to support staff and client needs.
Interact respectfully with clients while maintaining boundaries and exercising sound judgment in managing client behavior.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, participate in required staff training, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
De-escalate situations involving clients who may leave against staff advice or exhibit behavioral issues, demonstrating professionalism and sound judgment.
Participate actively in all required staff training sessions and meetings, contributing insights on client care and attending clinical supervision.
Monitor facility safety, report maintenance issues, and maintain clean and well-supplied work areas.
Interact respectfully with clients, reminding them of program rules and reporting any infractions in an appropriate manner.
Administer medications as prescribed, strictly following all protocols.
Coordinate transportation for clients who require assistance accessing community resources, attending medical appointments, and obtaining medications as needed.
Engage in ongoing education through courses, workshops, and self-study to enhance professional knowledge.
Prepare written reports on client status and progress for external systems as required.
Log detailed shift reports, documenting any incidents or situations that arise during shifts.
Maintain a professional demeanor and serve as a role model for all residents.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; certification or associate’s degree in behavioral health preferred.
Experience or strong interest in working with individuals with substance use disorders.
Certification in First Aid and CPR, or willingness to be trained.
Strong communication skills, acute observational abilities, and proficiency in documenting and reporting.
Proven ability to handle stressful situations and maintain confidentiality.
Proficient in using computers for documentation and communication, and office equipment for record-keeping, documentation, and general administrative duties.
Certification in First Aid and CPR, or willingness to undergo training.
Strong communication and observation skills.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and treat all clients with dignity and empathy.
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
Ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.
Evidence of at least two years of freedom from substance abuse, if in recovery.
Familiarity with the operations of a residential mid-stage treatment program for substance use disorder, or equivalent understanding through education or training.
Demonstrated organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle emergencies effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
