Position Summary

The Financial Planner will add significant value for Orgel Wealth Management’s clients by partnering with our Financial Planning Team and Relationship Managers to create and present comprehensive financial plans. The Financial Planner will analyze financial situations, prepare detailed reports, and propose novel, tax-efficient solutions designed to achieve a client’s goals and objectives. In addition, the Financial Planner will serve as an important internal resource and will partner with the Senior Relationship Managers and specialists to prepare educational materials for clients and to educate our team on financial planning trends, tools, and legislative developments.

Requirements

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analyses of clients’ financial situations and develop comprehensive financial plans and recommendations based on an understanding of financial markets, tax laws, and each client’s unique goals and objectives
  • Provide excellent service designed to advance the ongoing maintenance of genuine relationships by meeting with clients to request information needed to complete a financial plan, present financial plans, and address other planning-related questions
  • Maintain an understanding of laws and regulations affecting personal finance (e.g., retirement savings, Social Security, Medicare, etc.), monitor regulatory changes, and assist with educating the Orgel Wealth Management team on any developments or trends that may impact our clients
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers and our clients’ outside advisors to identify tax efficient strategies to manage cash flows
  • Coordinate with the Financial Planning Team to manage workflows, innovate client reports, monitor trends, and ensure that all financial planning materials are provided to client in a high-quality and timely manner 
  • Analyze the Social Security benefits available to clients and educate clients on optimal strategies to claim benefits
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the financial planning tools available at the firm (e.g., eMoney) and assist with the review and monitoring of other available tools
  • Compose written internal and client-facing communications, including presentations, recommendations, and analyses
  • Perform in-depth research across a variety of substantive areas related to personal finance to respond to client questions and provide recommendations, as appropriate
  • Serve as an internal resource on a broad range of financial planning related issues
  • Perform other duties as required that contribute to the overall effectiveness of the position and firm

The Financial Planner must be able to:

  • Manage time effectively, set priorities, organize work, and meet deadlines
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality with respect to client and firm information
  • Understand and adhere to all firm policies and procedures
  • Exercise the highest level of professionalism in personal presentation, communication, and all interactions with clients and employees
  • Demonstrate high levels of integrity
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing 
  • Function well in a team environment by maintaining a positive, collaborative approach
  • Work independently with the ability to self-motivate
  • Leverage technology, including the Microsoft Office Suite, Junxure, Tamarac, eMoney, Savvy Social Security, and other software applications as necessary

Educational and Experience Requirements

Required:

  • BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of eMoney financial planning tools

Preferred:

  • At least 3 years of experience providing financial planning services to individuals and families
  • Knowledge of tax planning strategies or education, experience, or certifications related to tax preparation or tax planning
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification or willingness to work toward the completion of the certification requirements
