Wisconsin Family Ties is Hiring a Business Operations Manager Near Madison, WI

Wisconsin Family Ties is searching for a resourceful, organized, critical thinker to fill this key role for a growing nonprofit, helping to manage our day-to-day operations. The Business Operations Manager (BOM) blends hands-on work and managerial duties to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of Wisconsin Family Ties.

Wisconsin Family Ties (WFT) is a social impact nonprofit focused on improving the support, understanding, and acceptance of families that include children with social, emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges.

Essential Job Duties

  • Establish and/or improve operational systems, processes, policies, and procedures necessary to support WFT’s mission. Ensure the efficient, organized operation of Wisconsin Family Ties by documenting administrative tasks and procedures, developing and maintaining a system for organizational files and documents, interfacing with vendors to maintain office equipment, and overseeing procurement of needed resources/supplies.
  • Supervise the accounting and operations staff.
  • Lead the human resources function including the administrative processing of new hires, updating job descriptions, and maintaining the employee handbook.
  • Maintain WFT’s operational, fiscal, administrative, and archival documents. Oversee proper retention and disposal of organizational records.
  • Coordinate registration/billing for WFT’s annual conference and other events, liaising with WFT’s Events Manager.
  • Plan for WFT’s physical office space needs; liaise with WFT’s landlord.
  • Contribute to organizational strategies/planning as a member of the WFT leadership team.
  • Other duties and/or special projects as assigned by the executive director.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience with administrative operations, preferably for a nonprofit organization
  • Understands typical structure, challenges, and benefits of a small nonprofit
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; high level of poise and professionalism
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Strong computer skills; advanced skills with Microsoft 365.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to operationalize work that is, at times, complicated and multi-faceted
  • Understands human resources information systems (BambooHR a plus)
  • Basic knowledge of nonprofit accounting (QuickBooks Online a plus)
  • Understands constituent relationship management (CRM) databases (Salesforce a plus)
  • Experience interfacing with a payroll processor and submitting payroll data is preferred
  • Experience as a parent or caregiver of a child with social, emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges strongly preferred
