Position title: Outreach and Education Coordinator

Reports to: Survivors of Trafficking Program Manager

Classification: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Salary: $18.86-$28.29

Opening Doors began in 1993 as a small refugee resettlement agency, and today serves 2,000 clients per year across our 5 program areas: Refugee Programs, Survivors of Trafficking Programs, Immigration Legal Services, Health Programs, and Economic Prosperity Programs.

Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned at the sole discretion of the organization:

Community Outreach

  • Support Survivors of Trafficking (SOT) team’s outreach and recruitment activities by identifying new outreach opportunities and supporting the facilitation of relationships with community-based organizations, government agencies, educational institutions, and other stakeholders.
  • Work with Communications Team and SOT Program Manager to coordinate preparation of outreach materials, coordinate speaking engagements, and assist the Program Manager in representing Opening Doors at community outreach events.
  • Track outreach activities and outcomes for reporting.

Education & Training

  • Develop presentations and host workshops that aim to increase knowledge, awareness, and prevention of human trafficking.
  • Identify resources and services available in the community and share program innovations to SOT Program Manager.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain a list of service providers who align with Opening Doors service delivery model and can provide free or reduced-rate services to clients.
  • Develop and maintain lists of resources and services around trafficking, domestic violence, suicide prevention, mental health services, social services and family resources.
  • Identify and participate in outreach events.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations, partners, faith-based organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop work plans, timelines, activities, surveys to achieve program goals.
  • Track program deliverables using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Assist the SOT Program Manager with gathering data for progress reports.

Required Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

  • Attention to detail, thorough, and methodical in completion of work tasks.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software programs as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills: ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with current and prospective partner agencies, multi-cultural clients and other stakeholders.
  • Comfort and ability to speak in front of, present to, and train groups of all sizes.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to write for multiple audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills in a complex, multi-tasking environment and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the greater Sacramento region and surrounding counties.

Preferred qualifications: The requirements listed below are not required but are desired.

  • Lived expertise or extensively familiar with the topic of human trafficking.
  • Skilled writer with a passion for ethical storytelling.
  • Fluency in Spanish or other languages and cultures.
  • One to two years of experience working in social or human services, or related field.
  • Experience in conducting presentation workshops/classes.
  • Knowledgeable in human trafficking, mental health resources and services, domestic violence prevention and early intervention, suicide prevention and training.
  • Experience working with immigrants, refugees, and survivors of trafficking.

Physical requirements and work environment: The following demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Outreach and Education Coordinator position. While performing this job, the employee is required to sit often and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, lift approximately 25 pounds on occasion, and to stoop, kneel, or squat, and drive on occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
