Downriver Medical Associates is looking for a Medical Scribe to join our growing team! As a Medical Scribe, you will be responsible for the documentation of medical visits between the provider and the patient. The ideal candidate will have a background in health care or health care related field, have knowledge of medical terminology and common medications, and be able to type 65 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Document the physician dictated patient history, including history of present illness, review of systems, past medical and surgical history, family and social histories, medications and allergies.
• Document physical examination findings and procedures as performed by the physician.
• Document the results of laboratory and radiographic studies as dictated by the physician.
• Document the correct time of patient care related activities, including physician to physician communication, family communication and re-examination of the patient.
• When the physician concludes the patient’s encounter, the physician will review all documentation completed by the Scribe, make any necessary amendments, and sign the chart. The physician is ultimately responsible for documentation of the patient’s encounter.
• Send medications per physician order.
• Place orders for outside exams and referrals.
• Help keep patient flow maintained.

Experience

• Prefer revious experience in medical documentation in a hospital setting or other setting that requires knowledge of basic medical terminology
• Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently with attention to detail and safety
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with good organizational skills
• High level of integrity and professionalism required
• Data entry skills
