Primavera Online High School is Hiring a Dean of Student Engagement and Community Near Chandler, AZ

Position Summary:
The Dean of Student Engagement and Community will continue to develop and build Primavera's robust online community for parents and students, carrying out the vision that Primavera is a place everyone belongs to and is welcome. In this role, our Dean assists and supports the 9-12 Director in providing students and families a positive and engaging online environment. This position will also oversee the parent and student onboarding, orientation, and build continual support throughout the school year for parents and students to ensure success in the online learning environment.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
  • Assist and Support the Director to: Organize, implement, and oversee parent/student onboarding and orientation.
  • Oversee, implement, and monitor Primavera 9-12 Communities (academic and interest-based) within StrongMind Central and ensure fidelity of vision, appropriate participation, and engagement, etc..
  • Develop and oversee the parent training/support program; scheduling monthly parent interest-based or trainings centered around student success, family development, etc...
  • Organize and run quarterly SAC (School Advisory Council) committee meetings.
  • Oversee development, implementation, and offering of student interest-based clubs.
  • Collaborate with the Events Manager and other members of the Administration to organize and facilitate virtual and in-person community-building activities and initiatives to promote a sense of belonging among students and to enhance the school community.
  • Organizes and executes student behavior support.
  • Actively participate in the MTSS process. Collaborates with the Student Intervention Team to identify and address the needs of students requiring additional support or intervention.
  • Supports teachers to resolve differences in communication with parents and students.
  • Maintain student discipline and follow through with documentation as well as follow-up meetings as necessary.
  • Communicate and meet with parents regarding student performance and/or conduct.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and staff members to address concerns, share updates, and promote a positive school culture.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of standardized assessments.
  • Support teachers in building positive relationships with parents.
  • Participates in all faculty and staff meetings.
  • Establish and enforce clear standards of conduct for virtual interactions among students.
  • Address student behavioral issues promptly and effectively through virtual communication channels.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop and implement strategies and/or intervention plans for improving student behavior and engagement in the online learning environment.
  • Monitor virtual classrooms to ensure student safety and security during online learning sessions.
  • Develop and administer disciplinary procedures in accordance with school policies and state laws; collaborate with students, parents, teachers, community agencies, and law enforcement; respond to and resolve parent, student, and staff concerns and complaints.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and staff members to address concerns, share updates, and promote a positive school culture.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, parents, and school administration to ensure effective communication and resolution of issues.
  • Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers to provide support and address concerns regarding student behavior and/or engagement.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff, providing feedback to teachers to improve student academic outcomes; observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with staff.
  • Coach staff and help them identify and develop appropriate professional goals and identify growth opportunities as well as accomplish improvement goals, recognizing them for efforts and achievements.
  • Collect, analyze, and respond to student performance data in pursuit of school-wide, grade-level, and course-specific goals;
  • Supervise school-wide testing; collaborate with other members of the administration to schedule proctors and provide communication and support regarding state testing to all stakeholders
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of designated certified personnel; assign duties to faculty and staff as appropriate to meet school objectives; assists with the recruiting, interviewing, and selection of new faculty and staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration to support the school's overall functioning.

Education/Training:
  • Arizona Principal Certification or currently enrolled in an administrative certification program
  • Bachelors required (Masters preferred)
  • Arizona 6-12 Teacher Certificate Required
  • 3-5 years of experience in a school setting (charter or independent preferred)
  • Teaching experience at the secondary school level desired
  • Behavior management or relevant experience preferred
