We are looking for a full-time Auditing & Accounting Senior Associate to join our team in the New York City office. Must be able to work a hybrid schedule (3 days in office and 2 days remote). This role will demonstrate advanced accounting and auditing skills and understanding of tax responsibilities. Supervise engagement teams, work independently, and interact with clients on a regular basis. Responsible for most stages of the engagement. 

Core Competencies:

Client Service

  • Comprehensive understanding of client's business, industry, products, services, and internal controls in order to develop suggestions for improvements
  • Working knowledge of business related issues including forms of organizational structure, business agreements, financing, insurance, and performance assessment to be able to reply to client questions
  • Manage engagement effectively and efficiently from planning to wrap up to meet and exceed client expectations and deadlines
  • Ability to effectively communicate with client in writing as well as orally
  • Communicate client concerns/problems timely to proper team member and provide input for appropriate response

Expertise and Technical Skills

  • Establish a track record of producing work that is highly accurate; demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate an advanced level of accounting skills including analysis of complex accounts and account relationships, knowledge of accounting pronouncements, and be able to prepare complex financial statements, including cash flow statement and footnote disclosures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of latest relevant accounting and auditing pronouncements 
  • Ability to audit high risk components of an audit engagement
  • Ability to design audit programs relevant to the engagement risks
  • General knowledge of tax laws and ability to prepare moderate level tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations
  • Ability to produce clear and concise written communications, including documenting in narrative form the results of accounting or auditing procedures performed
  • Develop an expertise in an Industry Service Group to better service clients in those industries

Firm Economics and Business Growth

  • Ability to identify efficient methodologies and best practices and apply them on future engagements
  • Be aware of the scope of work and engagement budgets and proactively communicate potential issues to managers and partners as necessary
  • Attend meetings and become active in outside organizations appropriate to the Senior Associate level in order to start building business relationships 
  • Recognize opportunities for expanding the Firm’s role with existing clients
  • Strive to meet charge hour goals and expectations

Team Member Development

  • Clearly communicate performance expectations to team members
  • Provide quality on the job training and constructive, fair feedback in a timely manner
  • Promote a positive team member environment and open lines of communications
  • Delegate appropriately based on risk, engagement status, and staff developmental opportunities; ensure that team members have the growth opportunities to advance to the next level
  • Participate in Firm recruiting efforts to help attract top talent; take responsibility for helping retain talented team members

Professional and Personal Growth

  • Involvement in professional organizations or trade groups specific to your client responsibility
  • Research and write articles for Firm publication in areas of expertise
  • Take ownership of personal career goals and seek out assistance from team members to help achieve aspirations (i.e. actively works towards CPA certification, joining associations and professional networks)
  • Think and care about the Firm like an owner. Commit to and uphold Firm values; demonstrate a sense of responsibility and dedication to the success of the organization
  • Respond constructively during a stressful situation or crisis. Remain calm and professional under pressure; handle risk and uncertainty with poise. Demonstrate maturity and professionalism in all situations

Qualifications:

Must be motivated, have the ability to multi-task and be organized. Maintain a positive attitude; be cooperative and flexible about the type of work assigned and in assisting other team members on assignments. Have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Job Requirements:

  • 3 years of public accounting experience; a MUST
  • Must have B.A./B.S. degree in Accounting (MST/MBA is a plus); Must have a completion of 150 credit hours
  • CPA license preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), accounting, auditing and tax software.
