School District of Onalaska is Hiring a Director of Communications and Engagement Near Onalaska, WI

The School District of Onalaska is accepting applications for a full-time Director of Communications and Engagement. The Director of Communications and Engagement is responsible for leadership in directing, managing, and coordinating all district communications, marketing, and public relations in service to Onalaska's diverse community. This position works to ensure timely public awareness of district initiatives and activities through the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications plan that works to support the District's strategic plan, vision, mission, and core values. Functions include district-level internal and external communications, media relations, parent and community engagement, and special events. This position serves as an internal consultant to the District's administrative team on communication-related issues, regularly collaborating with staff to ensure communication needs are met and executed with a high level of professionalism and competency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, digital marketing, journalism, or related field.
  2. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  3. Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
  4. Ability to approach and handle situations ethically, with integrity, and with strict confidentiality.
  5. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  6. High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  7. Experience writing press releases and other communication and promotional materials.
  8. Shooting, editing, and producing video and photographic media.
  9. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening & weekend hours when needed.
  10. Excellent technical computer skills including but not limited to: word processing, graphic design, photography, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and telecommunications.
  11. Familiarity with website and social media content.
  12. Ability to travel between the six district buildings.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of five years' experience working in combination of community and public relations, marketing, journalism, or corporate relations.
