Job Summary: The Staff and Student Wellness Specialist will research, develop, and coordinate staff and student wellness programs that support the physical, mental, emotional, and social needs of staff and students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, promote, and deliver District-wide staff wellness programs and challenges by working closely with financial sponsors and external vendors to ensure programs target the highest medical risk factors, address all wellness components, and meet the interest of employees.
  • Plan, organize, and lead District Wellness Council monthly meetings, ensuring the ADF Wellness Policy meets State and Federal guidelines, and internal wellness programs align with the Wellness Policy and milestones established with wellness partners. Collaborate with the Wellness Coach and the Benefits Department to align efforts regarding staff and student wellness.
  • Plan, organize, and lead monthly Site-based Wellness Leader meetings and training, providing community and research-based resources that support the school wellness goals. Develop, manage, and maintain quality School Health Improvement Plans, ensuring the student goals developed by the Wellness Leaders are data-driven and address best practices.
  • Maintain the staff and student wellness budgets assigned to this position. This includes but is not limited to processing payment to wellness vendors and stipends. Plus purchasing wellness materials and incentives for various wellness programs. Work with grant funds and manage grants related to wellness.
  • Create and maintain various publications, such as the District Wellness newsletter and the District Wellness website.
  • Attend all District, State, and Partnership meetings that relate to wellness as well as collaborate with other district departments on wellness related initiatives
  • Gather and analyze data to measure the success of student and staff wellness programs and initiatives. Compile comprehensive reports on participation, programs, and outcomes to include grant reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major Health Education, Public Health, Mental Health or other related fields. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Over five years of experience in Wellness related fields, Health Education or Special Service Provider.

Skills, Knowledge and Equipment:

  • Advanced knowledge and skill in the delivery of wellness and mental health programming for staff and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a leader to include gaining the confidence and engagement of all members of the professional learning community and interdisciplinary department teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and to coach and support staff so that they may effectively implement best practices.
  • Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, interpersonal relations, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced customer service, public relations, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced math, personal computer, keyboarding, and word processing skills.
  • Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of job.
  • Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education, Superintendent, building, and department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • Colorado Department of Education Teaching License or Special Service Provider License preferred.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
