Capital Area Health Network is Hiring a Fundraising Assistant Near Richmond, VA

JOB SUMMARY

The Fundraising Assistant will be the first point of contact for fundraising support to the organization. The main responsibilities for this role will be to process donations, maintain the database, and deliver high levels of customer care. The Fundraising Assistant will also work with the Chief Executive Officer to provide support to the department on a range of fundraising tasks as required.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Act as the first point of contact for all fundraising inquiries (via telephone, post, website, email, face-to-face), ensuring excellent customer service at all times.
  • Build relationships with donors in order to provide a high standard of customer care.
  • Process one-time and regular donations from both online and offline sources ensuring procedures are followed and information is recorded correctly in the database.
  • Ensure the database is kept accurate and up to date by recording changes including mailing preferences, address details, and financial information.
  • Liaise with the Chief Executive Officer and Finance Team to deliver the monthly income reconciliation processes within the agreed timescales to ensure cross-department accuracy of donations and payments.
  • Compile and present monthly reports of fundraising activity.
  • Provide thank you letters and corresponding or supporting documentation for all donations and record these communications on the database.
  • Coordinate with the fundraising committee and other designated staff on internal and external campaigns and other fundraising activities
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES

  • Provide excellent standards of donor care at all times.
  • Be a cooperative and supportive team member, contributing to meetings and planning sessions.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all donor relations matters.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to liaise with people at all levels, on the telephone, face to face, and in writing.
  • Ability to carry out thorough research to stay informed of new fundraising opportunities.
  • Demonstrable initiative and determination.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1 to 3 years of administrative experience preferred.
  • 1 year’s minimum experience using customer/donor databases. Ideally, some of this experience would be from the not-for-profit sector
