TITLE: SERVICE WORKER I, II, III – NATURAL RESOURCES

DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC SERVICES

CLASSIFICATION: FULL-TIME REGULAR, NON-EXEMPT

PAY SCALE : $15.50 – $27.69

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Semi-skilled position requiring a minimum of experience. This position involves the maintenance the City’s rights of way, roadways, drainage systems, street signs and buildings. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Natural Resource Supervisor or designee.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Turf maintenance: mowing, trimming, planting sod
• Operates powered equipment: mowers, tractors, chainsaws, chippers, weed trimmers (training provided)
• Tree & shrub trimming
• Assists and performs routine maintenance of stormwater collection systems
• Inspect and maintain stormwater pump stations
• Digs and refills ditches, loads dirt, asphalt, clay, gravel and other construction materials.
• Inspects and maintains roadways and sidewalks

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to communicate verbally using the English language.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor and operate basic hand tools and powered tools
• Operate basic hand tools using hands, fingers to hold and feel, reach with hands and arms.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid Florida driver’s license.
• Must pass post offer drug screening, post offer physical and Fit for Duty Employment Testing.

PHYSICAL SKILLS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to hold or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, smell and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, and crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

An employee in this job is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and has risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
