Specialty Services Operator – Vinyl

SUMMARY
Responsible for knowledge and practical application of physical production of vinyl signs, sign faces, stickers, vinyl heat transfers for caps and apparel, and vinyl banners - which includes preparing substrates and applying vinyl according to written instructions and under general direction. Responsible for cross-training in other specialized areas for the department.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
· Reports inventory levels and stock to be reordered.
· Helps unload raw materials and cleans and maintains work areas.
· Performs routine machine maintenance and minor repairs when necessary.
· May create art proofs, and communicates with sales reps and customers to finalize jobs within the Specialty Services Department.
· Operates heat seal machines (heat presses) to create finished products for orders.
· Interacts and communicates with sales reps and customers on a daily basis.
· Establishes and maintains effective team relationships with all support departments.
VINYL SPECIALIZED DUTIES
· Follows a layout or work order to place computer-generated vinyl or full color graphic images on a pre-determined substrate or medium.
· Accurately measure, cut, and lay materials for various projects according to guidelines provided.
· Prepares substrates for application, which may include cutting, laminating, cleaning, and maintaining the substrates for vinyl application.
· Weeds excess vinyl from computer cut images.
· Performs quality assurance measures pre- and post-production.
· Performs finishing operations such as laminating and/or mounting of printed pieces, or applying vinyl transfers to apparel or headwear using heat seal equipment.
· Construct plotter files and operate a vinyl plotter to cut graphics and designs, as well as make patterns for the installation department.
· Maintain quality control for the signage and application checks (patterns, hardware, etc.).
· Performs remote installations for vinyl applications.
QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Ability to distinguish very subtle shades and color.
· Experience with Adobe Suite and/or Corel Draw preferred (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc…) is a helpful.
· Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers and fractions and converting fractions to decimals and vice versa).
· Able to work well under pressure to output high volume, high quality work.
· Standing for long periods of time, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, carrying and moving items up to 50lbs.
· Must have the flexibility to lean over a waist-high table and use back forth hand motions to apply vinyl letters and graphics to a substrate.
· Able to use light power equipment.
We offer an accommodating work environment in a fast-paced production facility. Hours will be 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday- Friday.
