OVERNIGHT Position

Job Summary:

This position is primarily responsible to assist our professional staff in providing designated services, keeping with the established standards and practices of the mortuaries. The Care Center Associate will assist and report directly to the VP of Operations. This position/individual will be under the close supervision and coordination of a licensed staff member at all times.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

Administrative

• Lead by example, exhibiting professional behavior and performance and commitment to company standards and values.
• Establishes and maintains an effective level of communication to ensure high level of employee morale.
• Ensures that internal professional procedures and practices are followed consistently.
• Assures that housekeeping standards throughout the Care Center are maintained at satisfactory levels according to established company policy and OSHA standards.
• Participates in Care Center and/or location meetings offering effective suggestions and input as appropriate.
• Assures that complete confidentiality is kept and maintained on all company-related processes, techniques and services.
• Exhibits total and complete moral standards, respect and reverence in the handling, processing or service of any remains.

Making Transfers

• Responds to transfer assignment in a timely, accurate and professional manner
• Exercises universal precautions when handling deceased including gloves, face shields and coveralls as appropriate.
• Makes transfer appropriately conversing with family and other persons, following the transfer, transports deceased in a timely manner to the funeral home. (Deceased should be transferred within one hour of the initial call when conditions permit.)
• Places deceased in appropriate preparation room area and positions body to established standards and assures body is properly identified and that personal effects and/or jewelry are all accounted for and recorded according to policy.
• Ensures changing of linens, makes up cot and returns cot to proper storage area.
• Assures all work areas and equipment are properly cleaned and returned to standard operating condition.

Bath & Wrap human remains, Dressing, Application of Cosmetics, Casketing

• Assists in bathing, dressing, casketing and/or cosmetizing the deceased according to professional standards as required and notifies staff when ready.

Assists in setting up (and disassembly) of the funeral home chapels and/or staterooms to established standards and family wishes for visitations and/or services including moving flowers and equipment, and other items as required.

Assures that all flowers are carefully documented according to established practices and transported to and from designated areas in a timely fashion.

Perform other duties as assigned by Care Center Supervisor or company official.

Qualifications

Requirements/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including interpersonal, organizational and telecommunications.
• Unexpired, valid Texas drivers license.
• Insurable driving record.
• Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy.
• Compassionate, kind, and respectful.
• Pledges that complete silence and confidentiality are maintained perpetually relative to any information, circumstances, or facts concerning any deceased or client family.
• Support and assist fellow employees to ensure the highest quality, most professional, most ethical service. Education and Experience:
• High School Graduate/GED
• Funeral Home, Embalming Center, or Mortuary Transport experience preferred but not required Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 150 lbs. Ability to carry up to 125 lbs. Ability to push/pull up to 250 lbs.
