Responsibilities

This role intends to comprehensively support both Lab Operations and scientists, with an emphasis on inventory and asset management, to drive the successful, cutting-edge biotech company. At Triplebar, we value ownership of results rather than simple completion of tasks. You will have ownership and influence in the following:

  • Prepare media, buffers, reagents, and plates for sterile application at a high scale
  • Work with scientific teams and Lab Operations to ensure critical items are never out of stock
  • Design and conduct QC processes to ensure prepared items are functional
  • Maintain glass- and plastic-ware sterilization
  • Work with science and engineering teams to develop optimal workflows and infrastructure
  • Communicate with lab team to stay apprised of dynamically changing formulations and logistical systems
  • Assist Lab Ops in implementing and maintaining all operations-related tasks and systems
  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment in personal and shared workspaces
  • Maintain critical equipment functionality and sterility on a weekly basis
  • Follow all safety guidelines strictly at all times
  • Supporting scientists in pipetting, measuring, and timed assay procedures
  • Prepare and weigh samples for testing and analysis 
  • Conduct assays, tests, and other protocols under the direction of a Laboratory Manager, Research Associate or Scientist

Required Skills and Background

  • Interest in working in a biotechnology R&D lab
  • High organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with
    the ability to interface with all levels of the organization with professionalism
  • Ability to handle multiple requests, work in a fast-paced environment, and be responsive
    to employee requests/service issues
  • Proactive approach to identifying problems and problem-solving independently and collaboratively
  • Capable of working hands-on and lift up to 30 pounds on a daily basis
  • Typically requires at least 2 years of related experience

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience with Quartzy, Benchling, and/or other laboratory software
  • Experience doing R&D experiments at the bench
  • Familiarity with laboratory workflows
  • Knowledge of simple dilution calculations
  • Experience working with sterile technique
  • Experience preparing buffers and media
  • Understanding of concepts like pH, salinity, and buffer capacity.
  • Proven experience as Media Technician or relevant position
  • Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, infectious bacteria, biohazards etc.)
  • Excellent physical condition and endurance
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace and database systems
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or relevant field is a plus

The hourly range for this position is anticipated to be $24.00/hr. - $35.00/hr., however the base pay offered may vary depending on location, market, job related knowledge, skills and experience.
