Howard Miller is seeking a Product Engineering Manager to join our Zeeland, Michigan leadership team. Founded in 1926, Howard Miller built a fine reputation on manufacturing heirloom quality clocks and curio cabinets. Our offering has since expanded beyond residential furniture into furniture for healthcare and senior/assisted living centers.
This PE Manager position has a broad range of responsibilities. The PE Manager supervises a team of engineers in the development, engineering, packaging, and cost estimating of all manufactured products. The Product Engineering team is tightly intertwined with Manufacturing Operations to ensure product manufacturability at the lowest overall cost.
To be successful in this position, the candidate requires the following high level of engineering skills and knowledge:
- Strong leadership and communications skills to interact with others
- Efficient use of AutoCAD/Inventor and building bills and routings
- Knowledge of solid wood and panel furniture construction methods
- Strong familiarity with solid wood and panel machine processes and capabilities
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft office products
- Experience with JBA MRP Systems and Corvu analytical software tools a strong plus
- Flexibility to work on multiple and varying tasks simultaneously, sometimes with conflicting deadlines
- Maintains strong attention to detail and proven problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks based on importance and deadlines
- Organized and detail oriented
A level of knowledge typical of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Furniture Design, or related experience in wood furniture engineering and manufacturing is required.
