Winston Transitions, part of the Winston Preparatory School, is a unique program that supports young adults ages 17-21 with learning disabilities as they navigate the shift from high school to adult life. Transitions offer a dynamic and responsive learning environment where instruction flows from a holistic understanding of each student developed through ongoing assessment and intensive collaboration amongst team members. Students are introduced to the world of work through our internship program and the professional environment created on campus.

Transitions seeks a Health and Wellness teacher with experience implementing project-based learning to support students in goal-setting and follow-through as they apply information learned in class to their lives.

Professionally, Transitions offers a workplace that supports teacher leadership and values innovative approaches to instruction. A Bachelor’s Degree in an education-related field of study is required.

Experience and Philosophy:

Responsibilities:

• Implementation of personal goal setting

• Identify appropriate assessment tools and evaluate students concerning their social, psychological, and developmental needs

• Classroom instruction

• Comprehensive report writing three times a year

• Participation in supplying data to support Parent, Student, and Teacher Conferences three times a year

• Weekly and daily (when needed) student folder updates

• Continuous communication with faculty, parents (as needed), and students

Compensation includes a generous contribution to a retirement plan after two years of employment and subsidized medical after 60 days of full-time employment.
