THE SOUTH CONGRESS HOTEL is hiring for SECURITY

The living room for the neighborhood, South Congress Hotel is an 83-room boutique hotel designed to be a hub of activity for the community. A place for travelers and locals alike, the hotel has three restaurants, a coffee bakeshop, rooftop pool, award-winning Lobby Bar, and two retail spaces, in addition to a range of community events programming open to all. All locally owned, all right at the doorstep of Austin’s favorite street.

JOB OVERVIEW
The Security Officer is responsible for the overall safety of the hotel. This position ensures a safe and secure environment through observant patrolling, camera review, monitoring for compliance with policies and procedures, and addressing any concerns effectively and diplomatically. The Security Officer approaches the job with a positive attitude and ensures all interactions represent the highest standards of service.

Duties will include responding to emergencies, assisting guests with lockouts, managing lost items, completing detailed & accurate reports, and coordinating efforts with hotel department managers. The successful candidate will have previous like experience in a hotel setting or law enforcement/military background.

You're excellent with time-management and can juggle projects in a fast-paced environment. You have a calm, but firm demeanor, enjoy helping others, and are driven to jump and help when issues arise. You are quick to think on your feet and see the big picture.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous Security experience preferred
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws pertaining to the activities of Security personnel (including OSHA, Hazardous Communications, and Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control)
• CPR certified (can be completed upon hire)
• Excellent communication and guest relations skills, in regard to verbal and written communication
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk moderate distances
• Proficient in basic computer skills
• Surveillance skills and detail orientation
• Ability to work alone while being a part of a team
• Exceptional interpersonal skills allowing for the ability to react appropriately in stressful situations while demonstrating integrity and professionalism throughout
