Summary:

Under the supervision of the Dean, W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing and Health Professions (SONHP), the Hourly Assistant is responsible for assisting with administrative functions and activities. The hourly assistant fulfills a professional role in support of the School’s student clinical affiliation activities, including monitoring clinical compliance and compliance-related administrative services, maintaining student clinical-related records and clinical schedules, and communicating with students, mentors, preceptors and SONHP deans regarding clinical issues. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Knowledge of the principles and techniques essential to perform assigned responsibilities. 

- Experience in healthcare preferred.

- Enhanced customer service knowledge.

- Ability to acquire extensive knowledge of University policies and procedures, especially those related to clinical affiliation requirements. 

- Ability to understand, analyze, interpret and apply established law, regulations, procedures, precedents and guidelines. 

- Ability to counsel students and others concerning Nursing programs, activities, and clinical compliances. 

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

- Ability to work well with others in a team environment 

- Ability to maintain essential records and files. 

- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel 

- Excellent organizational skills.

- Attention to detail

- Take on other responsibilities as assigned.

Job Duties:

- Work with clinical compliance companies and SONHP staff to maintain/ revise/edit/update requirements.

- Monitor compliance status of all relevant students/educators with appropriate follow-up. 

- Monitor University documents and website for compliance requirement consistency and update as needed.

- Assist students/educators with obtaining & maintaining clinical compliance.

- Respond to telephone inquiries from various constituencies including students, mentors, preceptors, vendors and other University offices.

- Provide excellent verbal and written customer service.

- Handle basic technical support issues.

- Work with other University offices. 

*Position is hourly/ up to 25 hours per week.
