Elementary School Classroom Teachers

Position Summary: Vision Academy Charter School (VACS) seeks dynamic and passionate elementary school teachers to significantly impact their students' lives. The ideal candidates will create a warm and welcoming school culture driven by student achievement and are committed to setting high expectations and providing high levels of support to their students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement VACS's curriculum and utilize consistent classroom routines and procedures.
  • Develop rigorous, aligned instruction, lesson plans, homework assignments, and assessments.
  • Work closely with school leaders to analyze student assessment data and use it to inform instruction.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams to discuss student work, share best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards.
  • Form and maintain relationships with students' families through phone calls, conferences, and visits
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to continuously improve their practice.
  • Provide individualized instruction and support to students through tutoring sessions and organize and lead an afterschool club or enrichment activity to promote students' academic and social-emotional growth.

  • Outstanding instructional skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge students and maintain an orderly classroom environment

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Must have or be working toward teacher certification
  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject area
  • Classroom teaching experience in an urban school setting
  • Documented experience using data-driven instruction to achieve significant student gains
  • Established expertise, knowledge, and skills using technology to improve instruction
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge with Core Knowledge Sequence is preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking, sitting for long periods, speaking loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things near and far away, stooping, kneeling, delicate finger and hand manipulation using a computer, chalkboard, dry erase board, Smartboard, or projector.

Compensation Package:

  • The starting base salary ($60,000) is competitive and commensurate with experience.
  • Additional stipend for hard-to-fill positions (Math, Science, SPED, Tech).
  • Tuition Reimbursement program for Continued education ($3000/Year).
  • Pay increase for continued education (B 15, Masters, M 30) in a related field.
  • Longevity Pay for every three years completed.
  • Performance-based bonus programs ($7,500 based on a board policy) to award teachers’ efforts.
  • Reimbursement Incentive for Moving and Housing Expenses ($3000.00 one time based on a board policy).
  • A School Sponsored Health Care Benefits Plan (100% of the Premium Paid by the School for the entire family).
  • 403 (b) Plan for retirement with 5% School matching.
  • Additional stipend for those willing to sponsor after-school clubs and enrichment programs.
  • There is an additional stipend for those willing to work in Summer School, Extended School Year (ESY) for exceptional students, or Saturday School Programs.
