MOUNTAIN LAKE is Hiring an Assistant Equipment Technician Near Wales, FL

SUMMARY

Mountain Lake Corporation is a private community established in 1916. Mountain Lake includes over 125 homes, a recently restored and top-ranked Seth Raynor golf course, and the centrally situated historic Colony House private hotel. This unique, one-of-a-kind community is a Five-Star Platinum Club and has been recently recognized as having one of the top private golf courses in Flroida.

We are looking to fill an Assistant Equipment Technician position. Under the direction of the Head Equipment Manager, the Assistant Equipment Technician helps and/or works independently of the Head Equipment Manager in maintenance of all golf course and landscape equipment. The position is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining various gasoline, diesel, and electric powered equipment, including but not limited to walking and riding reel mowers, rotary mowers, Workmans, utility carts, tractors, etc.

The Assistant Equipment Technician also supports maintaining a clean maintenance bay and diligently ensures all facility safety protocols are in place through a preventative maintenance checks and services program (Toro’s MyTurf Programming). This position requires a motivated individual with a keen eye for attention to detail and who thrives working in a team-oriented environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

1. 1. Repair and maintain all golf course and landscape related equipment.

2. Support maintaining a clean and safe maintenance bay.

3. Adhere to all facility safety protocol through preventative maintenance checks and services program.

4. Through Head Equipment Manager’s training, successfully grind bedknives and reel-type blades.

5. Setup proper heights of cut and contacts on reel mowers, through Head Equipment Manager’s directing.

6. Proper grinding of rotary blades and height of cut setup.

7. Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair equipment, and communicate any equipment downtime to supervisor.

8. Set up and modify new equipment as needed.

9. Advise Head Equipment Manager when irregularities are seen (poor quality of cut, after-cut appearance, hydraulic leaks, etc.)

10. At times, assist with basic repairs to residents’ electric golf cart maintenances (tires, batteries, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL OF:

  • General operation of gasoline, diesel, and electric powered equipment
  • Small engine repair
  • Hazards and safety precautions
  • Rotor and reel blade maintenance
  • Basic golf etiquette

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of mechanical experience
  • Golf Course experience preferred

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

  • Valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to sit and stand for a prolonged period of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stoop and kneel.
  • Must have the visual acuity to see the computer screen and paperwork.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions
