JOB TITLE: Director of Finance and Social Enterprise
DEPARTMENT: Operations and Finance
REPORTS TO: President
FLSA: Exempt, full-time

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the President, the Director of Finance and Social Enterprise oversees College efforts to leverage College
resources to strengthen current and develop new revenue streams in support of the College’s Social Enterprise and
Enrollment (SEE) Plan. The position is responsible for directing the implementation of institutional strategy and developing
operations that will assure the College’s viability and competitive advantage. The Director will lead financial strategy
development and implementation with an emphasis on revenue development from the College’s Learning Hubs: Antioch
Farm, Antioch Review, Bookstore, Community Workshops, Coretta Scott King Center, Wellness Center, Herndon Art
Gallery, and Foundry Theater. The direct areas of supervisory responsibility include Finance Office, Events, Wellness
Center, and the Antioch Farm. The Director of Finance and Social Enterprise sits on the President’s cabinet.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Social Enterprise

  • Manage program and revenue development and operational leadership of two learning hubs: Antioch Farm and the
    Wellness Center.
  • Work in conjunction with all learning hubs in the development and management of the assets’ budgets, including
    overhead expectations, and to increase opportunities for revenue generation in support of the College.
  • Streamline and improve event coordination across campus, in partnership with directors of the learning hubs to
    improve revenue generation.
  • Develop policies and processes for cross institutionally planning and implementing campus events.
  • Assist with implementation of new revenue and program events and ideas developed by directors of the learning
    hubs.
  • Support the build out of Social Enterprise plans for the learning hubs by providing timely and accurate financial
    reports and resources.
  • Engage College constituents in projects and initiatives leading to new and increased revenue streams.
  • Coordinate and organize opportunities for increased revenue development during the block terms and open
    campus times, working with the Office of Academic Affairs and other College leaders.
  • Accomplish work in ways that honors shared governance and develops capabilities and potentials of individuals and
    groups on campus.
  • Perform duties as requested by the President.

Finance

  • Manage the development and implementation of the College’s Social Enterprise and Enrollment plan and all
    aspects of financial strategy.
  • Track and report progress on the College’s Social Enterprise and Enrollment Plan through regular Key Performance
    Indicator (KPI) reports, revising the financial strategy as necessary.
  • Serve as the primary contact with external controller service (Dean, Dorton, Allen and Ford).
  • Serve as key staff member on the Board of Trustee’s Finance, Buildings & Grounds Committee, preparing reports
    and presentations as necessary.
  • Work with Dean, Dorton, Allen, and Ford and finance staff to create and communicate effective budgeting and
    financial reporting processes.
  • Manage the annual budgeting process and preparation of annual budget; review actual to budgeted results and
    action plan resolution as required.
  • Perform duties as requested by the President.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree, MBA preferred, and 5 years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience with
    related responsibilities
  • Proof of accomplishment in the generation of revenue streams
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple teams to successful results
  • Demonstrated experience organizing self and others by implementing and utilizing technology in support of
    operational expectations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Position works extensively in an office environment; seated for up to two hours at a time
  • Utilization of standard office equipment such as networked computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines
  • Ability to keyboard for up to two hours at a time
  • Requirement to move around campus, indoors and outdoors, over paved and rough terrain in all weather
  • Requirement to travel by car, airplane, or other forms of public transport in support of Antioch needs

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Indoor office environment; heated and cooled institutionally
  • Movement around campus and during travel during weather extremes
