The City of Caldwell Fire Department is seeking a Logistics Support Specialist to join our ranks!

The City of Caldwell has an opening for a Full-time Logistics Support Specialist. This position is responsible for supervising, monitoring, and coordinating the procurement, storage, inventory, and distribution of the Department’s supplies and equipment. This position also includes responsibility for the operation of the Department’s Logistics facilities/locations, coordination of a growing network of fire stations maintenance program, and vehicle fleet maintenance and repairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in activities that promote Caldwell Frie Department in a positive image
  • Interacts with the public and Department personnel in a professional and respectful manner
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of the Departments radios, medical supplies, protective clothing, station supplies, uniforms, apparatus’, fires hose and other equipment as assigned
  • Develops and maintains appropriate division-related records accurately and efficiently
  • Oversee the area specific monthly, seasonal, and annual maintenance for all facilities operated by the Department
  • Create programs as needed which increase efficiency and promotes cost savings for the items listed in the job description
  • Oversees and ensure proper testing, maintenance, and proper documentation for the departments SCBA’s and SCBA Compressor
  • Oversees the departments supply system that includes the procurement, storage, inventory, and distribution of all equipment and supplies
  • Supervises the operations of the Department Logistics facility/storage areas
  • Coordinates the maintenance and repairs of fire apparatus and vehicles with vendors

Essential Physical Abilities:

  • Work is performed frequently in an office environment with moderate noise level. Employee in this class is frequently subject to inside and outside environmental conditions
  • Constantly requires driving motor vehicles to attend meetings and reach sites
  • Constantly requires clear vision to read printed materials and hearing and speech to communicate in person, over the
  • Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hand and fingers
  • Constantly requires strength and stamina.
  • Constantly requires mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Training, and/or Experience Preferred:

  • Mechanical aptitude, with the ability of analyzing, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical and electrical problems on various fire apparatus
  • Knowledge of maintenance and repairs of fire apparatus and vehicles
  • Knowledge of maintenance and repairs of fire department buildings and grounds
  • Knowledge of purchasing, procurement, and safety equipment

Ability to:

  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, fire personnel, vendors, and other department representatives
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of issues regarding buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment maintenance
  • Prioritize workload based on the needs of requesting department members or staff

Required Experience and Training:

  • 3 years or more of vehicle repair and maintenance experience or Master ASE Certification
  • 3 years or more of building maintenance and repair experience
  • Hold and maintain a class B CDL or higher
  • Must be able to travel by car or airplane to classes, seminars and drive a district motor vehicle to fire and incident sites. This includes the capability to drive a fire apparatus
  • Subject to a background check and drug testing

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge in Fire Department Operations and functions
  • Principles and practices, techniques and equipment used in fire, medical and hazardous materials emergency responses, including Dire Department facilities
  • Laws, codes, and regulation applicable to Fire Department Operations
  • Basic record keeping and time management techniques
  • Understanding of NFPA, DOT, and other State or National standards or regulations
