Title: Program Manager - Public Sector

Our client is a large, publicly traded, American government services company offering a broad range of services to state, local, and federal government clients. They are launching a new program with the California Public Utilities Commission and need your help. This is a long-term engagement running a minimum of 3 years. As a Program Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the program stays on track and on time. The Project Manager will assist the Contract Director by assuming primary responsibility for the implementation of the Master Project Plan including monitoring project task completion, remaining effort, schedule, and budget with periodic status reports. The Project Manager establishes and manages protocols for risk management, issue resolution, change control, and scope control throughout the project design, construction, testing, and implementation processes. The Project Manager makes sure that all meetings identified in the Master Project Plan are scheduled, the appropriate invitees are included, meeting preparation materials are created and distributed in advance of the meetings as needed and meeting outcomes are documented (e.g., minutes, action items, issues).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 5-7 years of relevant project management experience
  • Experience working with public sector agencies with knowledge of government contracts
  • Must have the flexibility for travel and a hybrid work schedule with remote and onsite work in Sacramento and San Francisco
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and other computer software applications; PC skills in a Windows environment
  • Ability to set priorities and solve problems
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment
  • Ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously; and ability to work as a team member, as well as independently; excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Develop project scope statements.
  • Provide leadership of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) session to identify specific project deliverables and define accountability per project
  • Ensure business requirements and tasks are identified to support/create detailed MS Project schedule.
  • Manage the identified project deliverables for completion by ensuring accountability per participating unit.
  • Develop and monitor risk plans to ensure mitigation strategies are in place and being executed.
  • Prepare and deliver project status reports to stakeholders.
  • Recommend changes to policies and establish procedures.
  • Monitor and facilitate the tracking and resolution of issues impacting the project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
