The Payroll Systems Analyst is accountable for contributing to the overall business performance by ensuring the smooth operation and optimization of the organization's payroll system. Your primary focus will be on analyzing, maintaining, and enhancing payroll processes and systems to ensure accurate and timely payment of employees. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, and IT, to identify system improvements, implement payroll-related projects, and provide technical support to end users. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of payroll regulations are essential for success in this role.

Job Duties

  • Manage the organization's payroll system, including configuration, updates, and troubleshooting; analyze existing payroll processes and identify areas for improvement, efficiency gains, and automation; collaborate with internal stakeholders to design, develop, and implement system enhancements, such as new functionalities, integrations, or reporting capabilities; stay updated on payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements to ensure system and process alignment.
  • Continuously review and evaluate payroll processes to identify opportunities for streamlining, standardization, and automation; propose and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance; develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process flowcharts.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end users on payroll system functionality, troubleshooting, and issue resolution; conduct user training sessions and create documentation to facilitate system understanding and adoption; collaborate with IT teams to address system performance issues, implement upgrades, and ensure data security and privacy.
  • Collect, validate, and analyze payroll data to ensure accuracy and integrity; generate reports, dashboards, and metrics related to payroll activities, such as earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits; identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in payroll data; support audits and regulatory compliance requirements by preparing payroll-related reports and documentation.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, and other cross-functional teams to address payroll-related needs, projects, and initiatives; act as a liaison between the payroll team and other departments to gather requirements, provide guidance, and ensure alignment; assist in the development and implementation of new payroll policies, procedures, and systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Payroll System Analyst or in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, systems, and regulations
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL) and reporting platforms
  • Understanding of HR and finance functions, including payroll-related accounting principles
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies is a plus
  • The Payroll Systems Analyst requires four (4) – six (6) years of experience as a Payroll System Analyst or in a similar role.
