Senior Elementary Education (9-12 yrs.) Lead Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY: Montessori Academy is seeking a 4th - 6th grade lead teacher with strong teaching abilities, an understanding of pedagogy and instructional practices in elementary and Montessori education, and an enthusiasm for connecting learning to real life application. Each Montessori classroom has an assistant teacher to assist you. Please have a growth mindset and be solutions oriented. Candidates must be committed to developing meaningful relationships with students and have strong communication skills, as you will be expected to interact with colleagues, parents, students, and administration. Must be willing to participate in activities and events, including student travel and camping.

The lead teacher must have the ability to teach in a mixed-age, diverse environment where children's individual development and needs, rather than age, guide the curriculum and teaching process. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and engaging classroom environment where children are encouraged to succeed. The ideal candidate will be understanding and attentive to student needs, and have a passion for the education field. You must be willing to foster and elicit learning and make each day a productive step in the journey to the ultimate goal: A student who is motivated, independent, and has a love of learning.

Lead Teachers, preferably Montessori certified, but we will pay for and train if it is a good fit. Bachelor's degree and/or experience teaching required. Hours are M-F approximately 8am - 4pm.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
• Montessori Certification (willing to train the right person)
• Must obtain an Arizona Identity Verified Fingerprint Card
• TB Test required
• Plan and implement approved curriculum
• Team member attitude, effective communication and organizational skills
• Professional, punctual, and friendly

Daily responsibilities include: knowledge of Montessori materials, child development and education, preparing the classroom, individual record keeping for children, positive partnering with an Assistant Teacher, and Parent/Teacher conferences.
