NexTerra Wine Company is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Downers Grove, IL

NexTerra Wine Company is a premier wine producer built on the belief that great wine begins in the vineyard. With deep industry knowledge, boundless creativity, and advanced winemaking techniques, NexTerra has grown to one of the largest U.S. producers outside of California projecting over 1,100,000 cases produced in 2023.
This position is a hands-on, high-energy role for this growing entrepreneurial business and will report to the Controller. This role is a considered hybrid, currently NexTerra works four days in the office and one day remote (subject to change).
Cost AccountingRESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Analyze cost variances for inaccuracies or improvements to optimize profitability.
  • Calculate and monitor overhead rates.
  • Using accurate costing information, collaborate with larger team to review/set customer pricing.
  • Liaison between departments to facilitate pricing approvals based on cost/margin data.
  • Analyze and prepare raw cost analysis (bulk wine, dry goods, freight, etc.) including monitoring actuals to standards.
  • KPI preparation and analysis, monthly reporting, and presentation on production cost activity
  • Assist with updating cost standards for material components regularly, manage our COGS target cost planner.
  • Provide input to financial projections, including potential cost issues that may impact forecasted costs and profitability.
General Accounting
  • Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll accurately and timely.
  • Balance subsidiary reports to the general ledger.
  • Prepare accruals in support of month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure internal controls are effective and make recommendations to improve internal controls as needed.
Accounting Support
  • Provide back up to AP and AR as needed (vendor invoice processing/image scanning; vendor set up, maintenance, inquiries; processing ACH/check runs).
  • Provide back up to Compliance as needed (excise taxes and reporting).
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA certification a plus.
  • Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
