Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a direct hire Lead Metal Fabricator job in south-eastern Orlando, FL for a global Metal Fabrication production facility. The Lead Fabricator is a hands-on position performing measuring, laser cutting materials, press brake and welding quality products for the construction industry. As a lead, you will set the example for other team members including laser cutters, press brake operators, welders, finishers, and shipping and receiving. You will report to the Operation Manager and assist as needed in production planning, oversight of the team, quality, safety, and employee training and development. Responsibilities for the Lead Metal Fabricator Job in Orlando, FL include:

• Evaluate production orders and set up, measure, laser cutting steel to order, operation of a press brake and MIG welding quality products in a timely, safe, and efficient manner.
• Act as a team leader with employees: train, evaluate, supervise, and assign employees to maintain an efficient & productive workforce to meet operational requirements.
• Supervise and oversee plant production, quality, and safety on the floor.
• Act as a key contact in the absence of the Operations Manager.
• Oversee accurate shop floor reporting for production, scrap, quality KPI’s and other company metrics.
• Evaluate work areas to make changes necessary to ensure optimal use of manpower and equipment.
• Assist in hiring, training, evaluating and management of production team.
• Maintain and motivate workforce by communicating company policies, procedures, operational changes, etc.; counsel and discipline employees as needed.

Qualifications

• An associate/trade school degree in metal fabrication/welding or equivalent is desired.
• Must have five (5) or more years of very strong, hands-on experience in blueprint reading, laser cutting and press brake operations, MIG welding and other metal fabrication processes.
• Trumpf Laser and Press Brake experience is preferred.
• Experience in the Architectural products industry experience is a plus!
• Computer skills: word processing software, spreadsheet software, order processing software, manufacturing software.
