Futures Explored is Hiring a Technical Assistant Team Support Near Sacramento, CA

Futures Explored is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Self Advocate to join our HCBS Technical Assistance Team. This individual will play a crucial role in teaching people with intellectual and developmental disabilities their rights under the HCBS Final Rule and assisting Service Providers to become compliant with the Final Rule. This individual must complete these tasks using a Person-Centered lens..

*Position is 16-40 hours per week and requires flexibility in work schedule and flexibility in location assignment as job duties are carried out virtually, in the office, at program locations, and in the community. *

*This is a temporary position that will end 12/31/24*

Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Technical Assistance Team to develop training content that aligns with HCBS Standards, focusing on plain language, pictorial representations, and person-centered practices.
  • Collaborates with the team to present trainings to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, service providers, Regional Center employees, and others.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees, participants, and leadership of Service Providers with remediation plans either through webinars, regional groups, or individual sessions, ensuring an emphasis on service recipients’ participation.
  • Collaborate with other organizations and stakeholders to promote the group’s advocacy goals.
  • Assist in the creation of advocacy materials such as presentations, flyers, and social media content.
  • Develop policies and practices through a person-centered perspective that aid organizations in achieving HCBS compliance with options for vetting by the Alta HCBS Specialist and offering personalized suggestions to organizations.
  • Offer support through troubleshooting, suggestions, and additional training to organizations seeking to enhance their compliance with HCBS standards fostering a collaborative and tailored approach.
  • Implement all aspects of training and assistance with a person-centered focus, leveraging previous training and tools acquired to promote person-centered practices within the project.
  • Tracks progress of Tech Assistant Team

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years’ experience in human service or educational organizations, at least a portion of which has been with programs for persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Inclusive approach when working with participants.
  • Knowledge of computers and software with the ability to troubleshoot basic problems.
  • Possess a valid CA driver’s license, insurable driving record, and evidence of auto insurance and the ability to drive a company vehicle and/or personal vehicle.
  • Ability/willingness to drive personal vehicle to program, work, and community locations, and to drive agency vehicles as required/needed
  • Ability to handle many tasks simultaneously, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Live Scan criminal record clearance (or exemption).
  • Health Screening and TB Test clearance. Not more than 1 year prior to employment or within 7 days after employment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment ~ Employee must have:

  • Sufficient physical stamina, agility, vision, and hearing to respond effectively in emergency and routine situations.
  • Physical stamina and ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform the assigned duties, including: - Walking/Standing up to 7.5 hours per day.
  • Looking at a screen (computer, tablet) and using a keyboard throughout the day
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed: - Moderate to loud noise. - Weather conditions at that time, with extremes of heat and/or cold and wet and/or humid conditions

Great if you have:

  • Knowledgeable of Lanterman Act regulations, Regional Center guidelines, and State of California Licensing regulations.
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR/AED by a qualified instructor.
