Summary: Sets up and operates power saws to cut, slot, groove, miter, and trim metallic and nonmetallic workpieces according to specifications: Selects and installs blade on machine, using hand tools. Sets controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tensions. Positions guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpiece, using hand tools and measuring devices. Scribes reference lines on material as guide for sawing operations, according to blueprints, templates, sample parts, or specifications. Mounts workpiece in holding device, manually or using hoist. Operates saw to cut along scribed lines. Verifies dimensions of finished workpiece, using measuring devices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes open saws to maximize up time
Trained to operate large forklifts to move or pull raw materials
Safely unload trucks bringing in raw materials and place them in the proper location
Use a tri-square or protractor to layout and cut correct angles as shown on prints
Catch mistakes on routers, prints and bill of materials and follow process for corrections
Follow dispatch list and look up standard work instructions
Remove any burrs prior to sending to the next operation.
Able to safely rig and move parts
Calculate how to best utilize materials
Able to rig product using chains, magnets and glommers used to pick up materials
