This position is located in a prison; Heritage Trail Correctional Facility in Plainfield, IN.

Position: Unit Manager

Starting Wage: $20 per hour competitive benefits package (see benefit details below)

Hours: Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm, Weekends and holidays off.

Summary

Unit Managers are responsible for the supervision of administrative functions and the case management staff in their housing units. Unit Managers play a vital role at HTCF as you will perform CPCT time cut reviews, quarterly quality assurance audits, progress reports, oversee case plan creation and risk assessments, manage internal offender job placement, and oversee monthly offender housing/dorm rep meetings. Preparation of records and reports and assists in day-to-day housing unit operations as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides guidance and promotes an atmosphere conducive to personal and professional achievement, progress and advancement among camp staff.
• Responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to all phases of the custody, administration, classification and program status of inmates/detainees.
• Responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of training for classification personnel.
• Directs the work of other employees. This would include selection, hiring, evaluating job performance, employee training/development, promoting and any disciplinary action, including termination.
• Reviews and evaluates classification department policies and procedures to ensure that they are pertinent, applicable and effective, and comply with corporate, facility and ACA requirements, guidelines and standards.
• Counsels inmates, responds to their requests and problems and refers them to appropriate facility services.
• Performs other related marginal duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related area and a minimum of two (2) years experience working in a correctional/detention field or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience required.

This position is a permanent full time position with Action Staffing to work as a contractor at Heritage Trail Correctional Facility (HTCF), managed by the GEO Group. Action Staffing has been partnered as a contractor with the GEO Group since 2005. This is a W2 position, NOT a 1099 position.

Heritage Trail is owned by the State of Indiana Department of Corrections and is privately managed and run by The GEO Group. The facility sits on the grounds of the former Indiana Boys School in Plainfield, IN. Heritage Trail is a minimum-security facility, housing up to 900 men, and provides dormitory housing that fosters personal responsibility and community participation among the offender population. The facility offers many programs, jobs, trades, education, & counseling services to all offenders. The population at HTCF must meet certain criteria to be housed at this facility such as no sex crimes. They are low risk, low level offenders that will be released within 5 years or less. This facility is their last stop before release and is geared towards giving them tools for success as the re-enter their communities.
