Teachers needed for the pre-K classrooms for the 2024-2025 school year

Monday through Friday 8:45-1:30, September-May

Summer Hours available

Education degree preferred

Position Responsibilities:

The FPCB Lead Teacher provides Christ-Centered teaching and possesses an inquiring and active faith, welcoming all into a preschool community rich in social and cultural diversity. The Teacher inspires a spirit- filled, caring classroom of children and is responsible for the classroom’s daily operation, develops relationships with the children’s families and is responsible for the classroom’s daily operations, supervision of assistant teachers and volunteers as present.

The Teacher encourages and guides the children as they explore, interact and construct their learning through play. The teacher recognizes each child’s individuality and prepares a classroom that fosters and furthers the children’s interests and talents.

The teacher ensures the classroom follows at all times the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) licensing standard and operates in alignment with the Office of Child Development and Learning (OCDEL) Early Learning Standards.

Responsibilities include:

Preparing the Environment

· Ensure classroom environments are safe, developmentally appropriate, aesthetically pleasing and promote curiosity and joyful learning through play

· Follow school safety guidelines, including for fire drills and emergency evacuations.

· Monitor cleaning and sanitizing of classroom furnishings, supplies and materials.

· Maintain a medication log, as needed.

Planning

· Prepare weekly plans that build from observations of children’s play, abilities, interests, and interactions.

· Rotate, update materials as needed to reflect children’s interests and abilities.

· Use community, parent, and education resources, as needed.

· Use guidelines such as the PA Early Learning Standards, as needed.

Interacting

· Support, validate and encourage the uniqueness of each child’s development, interests, skills, and knowledge.

· Observe and describe behaviors, interactions and accomplishments and provide directions and corrections, as needed.

· Scaffold learning by asking questions to extend curiosity and thought.

· Redirect inappropriate behavior and/or require consequences related to the behavior.

Communicating with Families:

· Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with each child’s family and ensure that each family feels welcome and encouraged to be involved in all aspects of their child’s education.

· Provide informational communications regarding classroom activity to families on a consistent schedule and/or as needed.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.50 - $19.30 per hour
