The Emma L. Bowen Community Service Center is seeking a Psychologist to join our team. This position is a terrific opportunity for someone to gain additional experience and make a difference in the lives of our clients.

For over 45 forty-five years, our organization has provided mental health and holistic services in northern Manhattan for families, children, adolescents, and other adults including the elderly in a supportive and caring environment. We also have an out-patient and residential substance abuse program as well as a Therapeutic Preschool for 3-5 year olds.

Upper Manhattan Mental Health Center is a Certified National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Title of Position: Psychologist

Description of duties and responsibilities:

§ Participate in implementation of the agency’s Project LAUNCH grant to enhance and expand our clinical response to early childhood mental health and developmental issues, including as appropriate training to partner or other stakeholder organizations and participation in internal grant activities such as data collection.

§ Provide clinical training and consultation about early child mental health needs and resources to staff of partner organizations.

§ Provide individual, family and group therapy for children under the age of 7 and their families. Must be certified or experienced in child parent psychotherapy.

§ Conduct Intake Assessments as assigned.

§ Provide clinical treatment and social services; which include outreach and case management; but not limited to client advocacy, school visits, referrals, attend interagency conferences, meetings, etc.

§ Complete Intake Reports, safety assessments and plans, Quarterly Treatment Plans,

Psychosocial Reports, Progress Notes and other clinical documentation. Be able to use an electronic record system.

§ Maintain comprehensive and timely client records.

§ Complete written referrals/correspondence to other community agencies.

§ Attend agency Grand Rounds, Unit Staff meetings, case conferences and training meetings.

§ Assume other responsibilities delegated by the Supervisor, Assistant Director or Director; to assure adequate and meaningful service delivery within the Unit.

§ Follow all NYS OMH Regulations, HIPPA Regulations and Agency Policies and Regulations

§ Opportunity for growth into an assistant director/supervisory role in program as the early childhood service expands.

Qualifications:

§ LMSW/LCSW/LMHC/LCAT from an accredited school, with a specialty or experience in child parent psychotherapy and running groups or PsyD Or PhD in Mental Health Field

Supervisory Relationships:

§ Supervision with program director and assistant director

§ Supervision if in a training program

Skills/Knowledge Required:

§ Experience in working with children, adolescents and families.

§ Bilingual Spanish Speaking

§ PLUS: CPP Training, early childhood experience

Amount of travel and any other special requirements:

§ 1 conference per year

§ Potential 3 hours per week in evenings for CPP training

Salary range: $85,000; expected $17,00 for .2 FTE

Hours per day or week: .2 FTE; 8 hours
