Who are we?

Young Scholars Charter School and Paul Robeson Charter School are both well-established charter schools. Young Scholars Charter School (YSCS) is a 6th-8th grade middle school in Philadelphia and Paul Robeson Charter School (PRCS) is a Kindergarten-8th grade school in Trenton, NJ. The mission of each school is to provide a personalized education that challenges, engages and prepares all students to passionately pursue their dreams and lead a life of active citizenship. We aim to inspire and equip every student to lead a life of achievement, service and success. Our structured and nurturing community, comprehensive programming and rigorous academic curriculum are designed to build self-motivated citizens, eager learners and strong leaders – regardless of circumstance. Our graduates are driven young people who are prepared for the future demands of high school, college, career and, eventually, the world.

Who are we looking for?

The Shared Services Team (SST) handles the back-office operations for both schools. The team is seeking a Recruiter who will lead our efforts to build a pipeline of exceptional candidates for YSCS and PRCS. The ideal candidate for this role has a passion for people, relationships, and teams. The person in this role should be highly organized, an adept problem solver, and a strategic thinker. The Recruiter will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities

Candidate Sourcing and Review

Develop and execute a sourcing strategy to continually attract high-quality candidates to both schools by:

  • Building a robust, high quality, diverse pool of candidates to fill positions
  • Posting information about job openings on internal and external websites and job boards
  • Planning and coordinating recruitment and networking events
  • Utilizing social media and other recruitment and networking tools
  • Managing partnerships with teacher/leader pipeline programs and stakeholders
  • Collaborating with school leadership teams to schedule and coordinate interviews

Candidate Review

Utilize selection criteria in order to present exceptional candidates to School Directors by:

  • Screening online applications and reviewing resumes
  • Conducting phone screens with qualified candidates
  • Building rapport with qualified candidates and communicating in a timely and professional manner
  • Regularly collaborating with the Senior Associate, Talent & HR to support candidates with human resources or certification questions and requirements

Collaboration and Communication

  • Support school directors by designing strong staffing plans and talent strategies and work with each school to execute each plan successfully
  • Collaborate with school directors to review candidates and support with interview procedures and progress
  • Serve as a thought partner for school directors on talent management and team development strategies
  • Provide regular updates to leaders, school directors, and the board of trustees on talent updates and trends to inform decision making

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least three years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Outstanding organization skills and detail-orientation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Exceptional customer-service and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate networks, build relationships and motivate others in order to achieve results
  • Must be resilient, persistent, collaborative, and professional
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as on a team
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
  • Demonstrated professionalism
  • A positive, high-energy attitude, the ability to problem solve and a drive for excellence
