Colorado Rocky Mountain School is seeking a Learning Center Support Teacher to begin in September of 2024. The Learning Center Support Teacher works with our Instructional Support Teacher and Learning Specialist to oversee personalized learning and homework completion for diverse learners in our college preparatory boarding school. The Colorado Rocky Mountain School is committed to providing students with the reading, writing, organizational, time management, and study skills they need to become more effective life-long learners. To that end, our goal is to provide each student with approaches to learning that will give them the best opportunity to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
This teacher will also participate in our active program (including outdoor, sports, arts, and community service curricula) and contribute to our residential and advisory programs.
Specific Responsibilities Include
  • Oversee study hall and learning center study groups
  • Provide push-in, small group, and individualized interventions
  • Foster a learning environment conducive to focused learning
  • Provide positive intrusion to ensure students stay on task
  • Address the learning needs of individual students as directed by the Instructional Support Teacher and Learning Specialist
  • Check our Learning Management System (Canvas) to ensure students are on track with their daily assignments
  • Communicate with the Learning Center Faculty and Academic Teachers as needed
  • Provide feedback to students working on reading, writing, mathematics, and executive function
  • Mentor a group of students as an advisor
  • Instruct active program curriculum including trips, mountain sports, arts, or service work
  • Work on a weekend team
  • Support students during Evening Dorm study as a dorm parent or in the Learning Center
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Foster inclusion and social justice, ensuring all students’ sense of belonging
  • Take on other duties as needed
  • Execute all duties in a timely and professional manner

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Degree in education or teaching experience required
  • Comfortable coaching students with math up through Geometry. Algebra II preferred
  • Capable of helping students with reading and writing work
  • Willing to expand professional learning as needed
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of technology, and in integrating technological applications in the classroom
  • Employs organization and time-management skills
